Background

A Maha Nikaya temple in the old Tha Thong community; the registry gives 1832 as the founding year, but its real origins are unknown and it was abandoned at times. It flourished most under Phra Khru Prachakworakhun (Khao Nilawanno), who said the name comes from the community having met with (prasop) disaster when Burmese troops attacked and burned the temples.

What to see

• Old ordination hall, originally all wood and open on four sides, later given brick-and-stucco walls
• Several red sandstone Buddha images by local craftsmen
• Three sila yuang stone Buddha images brought from Burma
• Wooden Buddha images carved by folk craftsmen
