- Background
- Building began around 1951 on the head of Khao Tha Phet hill, so locals called it Wat Hua Khao. It was renamed in 1956 after the nearby Khun Thale self-help settlement (nikhom) and officially established on 26 July 1979. The founder was former abbot Phra Sombun Chittachantho.
